You should build your own house because everyone you look at you would make maj or changes to.  Before you start building your own house you need to come up with a plan and get going on construction loans.  You should compare interest rates and options of construction loans with traditional mortgages.  I believe if you are planning on building your own house the construction loans would be the best way to go.  If you build your own house it will be everything that you want it to be and you will not have to settle on home that you are not completely happy with.
